NCAA Board Giving Power Five Conferences Autonomy

(Indianapolis, IN) -- The NCAA is giving the five college power conferences approval to make some of their own rules. The Division One Board of Directors has voted to allow the SEC, Big Ten, Pac-12, Big 12 and ACC the ability to provide more benefits to student-athletes regarding scholarships and the full cost of attending school. Those conferences would also be able to make some of their own decisions regarding recruiting rules, with three student-athletes from each conference taking part in the decision process. The proposal can be nullified if at least 75 schools outside those conferences are against it.
