South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg was a relative unknown at the time that he declared his candidacy for President, but all that has changed now that Pete has apparently made the decision to root the entire message of his campaign in his hatred for Vice President Mike Pence.

As AllahPundit at Hot Air articulated in post Thursday:

“Buttigieg is manufacturing the perception of a ‘feud’ between him and Pence because it’s to his advantage as a second-tier candidate to be seen as a nemesis of the sitting vice president. It’s also a clever way to blunt any discomfort rank-and-file Democrats might have with him being gay by associating that position with a despised Republican. Only right-wing Christian fanatics who serve Trump, Buttigieg means to suggest, could conceivably disapprove of his orientation. He’s trying to use partisan animosities to overcome any religious or moral objection to him on his own side.”

It’s an interesting tactic for a candidate who could legitimately stand out – well, blend – in a crowd of 17 competitors all vying for the democratic nomination in next year’s primary. Buttigieg is a Harvard graduate, speaks multiple lanuguages, and honorably served his country; yet he’s chosen to stand on homosexuality and his own personal “feel-good while attempting to make Mike Pence feel bad” interpretation of Biblical Scriptures.

Buttigieg has incessantly attacked Mike Pence in recent weeks, and while the Vice President has chosen to remain silent on the matter, his wife, Karen Pence has not.

Karen Pence took issue with Buttigieg’s remarks during an appearance this week on The Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox Radio.

“I think in our country we need to understand you shouldn’t be attacked for what your religious beliefs are and I think kids need to learn that at a young age that this is OK, what faith people have; we don’t attack them for their faith,” she said.

Pence also noted that Mayor Buttigieg and her husband “have always had a great relationship.”

Political campaigns reveal so much about a candidate’s personal character. At this point, I think I’m pretty clear on the character of Pete Buttigieg.

Keep talking, Pete; keep talking.
