Obama To Sign Executive Order Barring Federal Discrimination Against Gays

(Washington, DC) -- Presdent Obama is due to sign an executive order today to prevent federal contractors from discriminating based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The order will not have exemptions for religious organizations which some religious leaders had pushed for. The President's order will apply to about 24-thousand companies that employ about 20-percent of the nation's work force. An official with the Human Rights Campaign said this executive order will have a real and immediate impact on the lives of millions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people across the U.S.
