Dwight Freeney Signs One-Year Deal With The Seattle Seahawks
SEATTLE, Wash. -- Free agent and former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney has signed a 1-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said Freeney was in Seattle Tuesday to workout for the team and complete a physical. Freeney tweeted later that evening that he had signed a deal with the Seahawks.
Freeney is 37-years-old and spent 11 seasons in Indianapolis, where he became the all-time franchise leader in sacks, recording 107.5 sacks in his time with the Colts. Since leaving Indianapolis, Freeney has spent time with the former San Diego, now Los Angeles Chargers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons.
Last year with the Falcons, Freeney appeared in 15 regular season games and had three sacks. He started two of Atlanta's three playoff games.
Freeney has 122.5 career sacks, which is third among active players behind Julius Peppers (150.0) and DeMarcus Ware (138.5).
