Notre Dame dismisses four starters for academic fraud

South Bend, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - According to multiple media reports, four projected starters have been dismissed from Notre Dame's football program after an internal investigation revealed academic fraud.

Wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive back KeiVarae Russell, defensive lineman Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore are reportedly the players in question. It is not known at this time whether the four will be allowed to return to school.

The scandal stretched beyond the football program. Yahoo! Sports reported that the investigation included non-athletes as well.

Daniels is Notre Dame's leading returning receiver, having racked up 745 yards and seven touchdowns last season. Russell has started all 26 games in his Irish career, while Williams has appeared in 35 games over three seasons.
