Pacers' Victor Oladipo Named To NBA's All-Star Team

Oladipo is a first-time NBA All-Star in his fifth season in the league and first year with the Pacers.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Pacers guard Victor Oladipo is officially an NBA All-Star.

The NBA announced Tuesday that Oladipo was named as a reserve for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 18 in Los Angeles.

The former IU star is a first-time NBA All-Star in his fifth season in the league and first year with the Pacers.  The seven reserves from the Eastern Conference were chosen by the coaches within the conference.

Former Indiana Pacers forward Paul George, who was traded during the off-season to the Oklahoma City Thunder, has failed to make the All-Star team with the Western Conference after being named an All-Star over the course of four seasons with the Pacers including 2016 and 2017. Oladipo was one of two players acquired by the Pacers in the Paul George trade with the Thunder.

A new All-Star Game format this year replaces the traditional matchup between conferences.  The captains for the 2018 game, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, will choose the rosters from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves.

Teams will be announced on January 25.

“That was definitely one of the dreams as a little kid," Oladipo said hours being named to the NBA's All-Star team.  "I had a lot of dreams of being in the NBA, being successful, being one of the greatest. I got a lot of work to do to have all of my dreams come true.”

Oladipo joins previous Pacers players Reggie Miller, Don Buse, Billy Knight, Detlef Schrempf, Rik Smits, Dale Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Brad Miller, Ron Artest, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and Paul George as the 13th player in team history to be named to the All-Star team.
