Vikings' Joseph shot in leg

Eden Prairie, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph was struck in the calf by a stray bullet while at a downtown Minneapolis bar following the team's preseason game on Friday.

The Vikings announced that Joseph sustained only minor injuries from the incident, which took place at the 400 SoundBar club after the team's 10-6 win over the Oakland Raiders. The offseason acquisition was released from a local hospital shortly after receiving treatment and is expected to rejoin the team later this week.

According to the Star-Tribune, multiple people were wounded -- two seriously -- by an unknown gunman that fired several shots around 1:50 a.m. CT on Saturday morning.

"The entire Vikings organization is extremely thankful that Linval was not seriously hurt, and our thoughts are with all of the victims of this shooting," the team said in a statement. "The team will defer any further comment to the Minneapolis Police Department during its ongoing investigation."

Joseph signed a five-year, $31.5 million contract with the Vikings in March after spending four seasons with the New York Giants. The 25-year-old produced nine sacks while starting 46 games for New York over the last three seasons and was a member of the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI champion team in 2011.
