The three IMPD Commanders demoted after the David Bisard crash and investigation are suing the city. Darryl Pierce, Ron Hicks and John Conley are suing for defamation of character.
Pierce's attorney Robert Turner says they are seeking all relief allowable under Indiana law and that they have no specific dollar amount they want. Pierce says he feels the three were "thrown under the bus" and wants the mayor, Public Safety Director Frank Straub and Police Chief Ciesielski to admit they were wrong.
Turner says the lawsuit is also part of the discovery process since there are many reports about the crash investigation, and aftermath, that have not been made public.
IMPD Officer David Bisard crashed his police car into three motorcyclists on August 10, 2010. The crash killed Eric Wells and severely injured Mary Mills and Curt Weekly. Bisard is awaiting a trial date in the case.
The city did not return a call for comment on the lawsuit.
