Franklin Township School Board members held an executive session Wednesday night to discuss options concerning a lawsuit filed by a group of parents over the district's busing fees.

Listen:

Corporation General Counsel Chuck Rubright says the lawsuit is based on two components: the fees charged by CIESC and also asking that every Indiana school corporation be required to provide transporation to every student, which Rubright says goes beyond what the law requires.

Rubright says he expects Monday night that the school board will approve a resolution to defend the lawsuit. He says the Attorney General's opinion that charging a bus fee is unconstitutional is only advisory upon the district and the corporation feels other school districts are on the verge of charging a busing fee, so rubright says they want a quick resolution in court.
