The Evansville city council passed a citywide smoking ban 7-2 Monday night. Smoking will not be allowed in restaurants, bars and private clubs. However, the council granted Casino Aztar's request for an exemption for the gaming floor.
Aztar general manager Ward Shaw said a ban could reduce revenue by 30-percent, and that could mean much less revenue to the city.
The smoking ban is scheduled to start April 1.
