Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will testify before a House subcommittee in Washington D.C. Tuesday.
Listen:
Spokesperson Marc Lotter says the Mayor will discuss Rebuild Indy and the city's plan to improve waterways and sewers to meet EPA standards. The Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee is hearing testimony from numerous mayors on the issue.
Lotter says the city's renegotiation with the EPA on a consent decree over stormwater and sewer issues saved ratepayers $740 million. He adds Rebuild Indy and the transfer of the water utility to Citizens Energy Group will take the savings to upwards of $1 billion. Lotter says it's allowing the city to invest in upgrading streets and sidewalks. Lotter says the Mayor will also share that information with lawmakers.
