A shooting Monday morning on the southeast side has left one man dead.

Metro police say 31-year-old Michael Evans was found in the 1800 block of Dawson Street.  He was pronounced dead a short time later at Wishard Hospital.

The call was reported to police after people heard gunfire.

Witnesses tell investigators the shooting happened during a fight between the victim and three or four men seen speeding away in a gold or maroon car.

Police are searching for the car and the men.
