Today Could Be Hottest of 2012

6/20/2012

Wednesday could mark the hottest day of 2012 so far as Indiana continues its scorching, dry streak.

Temperatures reached 93 degrees in Indianapolis on Tuesday. An expected high of 94 on Wednesday would set a new threshold for the year.

June could also set records for the recent lack of rain.

The driest June on the books was .36 inches of rain in 1988. So far this month, Indianapolis has seen .05 inches.

The next chance of rain could come Thursday as a cold front moves through the state.

The northwest region has the best chance of seeing decent rainfall, with the front arriving by 1 p.m. Thursday.

Any rain that's left is expected to reach Indianapolis by 6 p.m.

Temperatures will cool off to the low 90s Thursday and then the high 80s Friday through the weekend.
