The Indianapolis Zoo reports it added a new resident on Thursday afternoon.

The zoo says African Elephant, Ivory, 30, gave birth to a female calf at 11:48pm Thursday. The calf weighed 244 pounds.

The zoo says she was up on her feet in minutes, which is a positive early sign.
