Police are looking for a man they describe as a person of interest, following a fatal stabbing in Lawrence early Saturday morning.
It happened around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, in the 9200 block of East 42nd Street. Investigators say someone flagged down a Lawrence police officer and led them to the victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest. The victim later died after being taken to a local hospital.
Investigators have named 37-year-old Damon Patton of Indianapolis as a person of interest in this case. They say he may also be suffering from injuries but fled the scene prior to police arriving.
Patton is described as a black male, 6 foot 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 260 lbs. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
