Democratic Candidate for Governor John Gregg says the state of Indiana is failing children.
Listen:
Gregg says the Department of Child Services needs help. Gregg says the state has cut DCS to the tune of $200 million over the past three years. That's money Gregg says should be returned to the department. Gregg spoke at a press conference Monday with his running mate State Senator Vi Simpson.
Simpson says the $200 million is part of the $2 billion state surplus money they would like to see returned to DCS. Gregg says he wants to create an Office of Child Advocacy. Both are also questioning the efficacy of DCS and FSSA as separate entities. However, Gregg says that issue requires further study. Gregg says Indiana kids need greater prevention services, adoption services and child advocacy efforts.
