The Capital Improvement Board is looking into selling the historic Ober building near Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The building is located at Pennsylvania and Maryland and was used as a furniture store and a restaurant at different times over the years.
The CIB bought the building in 1999. CIB President Ann Lathrop says they've been approached by "a variety of individuals."
Lathrop says the CIB looked at putting the building on the market several years ago. "When we looked at this five years ago there hadn't been an interest in the building and clearly now maybe there would be so it seems incumbent upon us to go out and test the market to see what's out there."
Lathrop says they originally bought the building due to its proximity to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Three floors of the building are rented to various companies, including Ratio Architects.
The CIB is considering transferring the property to the Metropolitan Development Commission to solicit bids. The purchase price of the building was not immediately made available by the CIB.
