Five mobile homes in Hendricks County were damaged by fire early Wednesday.
At about 1:30 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 2200 block of U.S. 40 near Plainfield, on reports of several structure fires at a mobile home park.
Investigators said several small explosions from fuel tanks stored near the homes may have sparked the blaze.
"With mobile homes especially, they can have a very small distance between them and when one catches fire, they catch fire very quickly. They get fully involved very quickly and then they can spread rapidly to the sides and to the back as well," said Lt. Troy Clements with Danville Fire Department.
The dry conditions caused trees and grass surrounding the neighborhood to catch fire, officials said.
Danville officials were assisted by several other fire agencies to help get the fire under control.
No injuries were immediately reported, but Red Cross officials said they were assisting five families who were displaced from their homes.
