A man was fishing with a friend and might have tried to take a dip, but ended up struggling and going under the water in a retention pond in the Westbrook area, just off of Bobcat Trail Drive.

The man was found clinging to life about 20 feet from the shore when he was pulled out by safety crews, but pronounced dead shortly after he was recovered.  Now crews are investigating the possibility of a medical problem that might have caused the man to go under water.

He was fishing with his friend who admitted to have several drinks, but said he was surprised when his fishing buddy struggled bceause he's a strong swimmer.
