Metro Police are investigating two separate shootings that happened early Sunday morning. The first happened near the Country Hearth Inn & Suites on East 21st Street.
Police were called after a man got into an argument with a clerk at the motel. IMPD Officer Kendale Adams says Officer Tracy Keithley was on her way to the motel when she learned from Cumberland Police that the suspect was likely involved in an earlier stabbing in Cumberland.
Officer Keithley found 29-year old Anthony Mickle in the motel parking lot and they were involved in an altercation, ending with Mickle being shot. He was taken to Wishard where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Officer Keithley is now on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
Police are also investigating a shooting that happened shortly after 5am near 30th and Central. A man was shot trying to intervene in a fight between a man and a woman. The unidentified victim was taken to Methodist, but his condition is not known. Police are looking for the suspect.
