IPL is doing its bit in the Hurricane Sandy effort.

Listen:

Some 22 crew members are bound for Huntington, West Virginia to tackle the power outage problem. Team Leader Monsanto Love says they've heard that parts of the state have already gotten snow. He says part of the state may get up to three feet of snow.

IPL Spokesman Greg Fennig says crews will focus on powerline restoration, should it happen. Fennig says utilities always work together on projects that may require additional manpower. Fennig says they based their decision to help out on the fact that many east coast communities are being evacuated.

Love says they expect the trip to take about nine hours. He says they'll work mainly during daylight hours. He says they expect to be away for at least a week.
