Pepsi is selling a fat-blocking soda in Japan.
Listen:
The soda is called Pepsi Special and Alvin Furiya, a registered dietician at IU Health Bariatrics, says it contains what's known as dextrin, also known as BeneFiber in the United States. He says Pepsi is claiming the soda will absorb the fat in the meals you eat but also stresses that dextrin can also absorb vitamins, minerals and even medications. However, Furiya says that's common with all fiber.
Furiya says this soda lets people think they can eat or drink whatever they want without consequences. He says the best way to control your weight is eating right and exercising.
