Some Hamilton County customers are mad at Duke Energy today.
Some among nearly 120 customers in the Village of West Clay area of Carmel are upset by Duke's plan to shut down power for the bulk of the business day Thursday. Duke Spokesman Lew Middleton says the outage will run from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. He says crews will replace a piece of defective equipment. Middleton says Duke apologizes for the inconvenience, but adds that it's a necessary move to improve service.
Meantime, Sherri Klain is owner of Basket Pizzazz, a gift shop in the village. Klain says she just found out about the move this morning (Wednesday). She says she heard the work involved an update to a power server.
Middleton says the shutdown time is the best and safest time for Duke workers to do their jobs and they'll try to get the work done as soon as possible. Homes within a three-block radius will also be affected.
