Outgoing U.S. Senator Richard Lugar is rejoining the faculty at the University of Indianapolis.
Listen:
The longtime Senator will launch the Richard G. Lugar Academy, which will include a Washington D.C. internship and study program for UIndy students and students from around the world.
UIndy President Robert Manuel says the program includes in-class study, research projects and specific internships. The program is currently in the design phase, but will include visits to the campus by Lugar.
Lugar began the Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders at UIndy in 1977. The school formed the Lugar Center for Tomorrow's Leaders in 2007, which is being renamed in the new partnership. Lugars says he will also soon announce plans with Indiana University and Georgetown University. Georgetown will partner with UIndy for their Washington D.C. office.
