A car has been pulled from a lake at 116th and Hoosier Road in Fishers. The driver, 43-year-old Carrie Mattingly of McCordsville, and her five-year-old daughter swam safely to shore where they were assisted by bystanders.
Mattingly told investigators she lost control on slush-covered pavement. It was believed earlier that they were in water 60 to 80 feet deep, but the depth has since been determined to have been only about to ten to 15 feet.
"We had a single vehicle go off the road, through a fence and into the lake here," said Fishers Fire Department spokesman Ron Lipps. "All the occupants and rescuers were taken to a hospital to be checked out for hypothermia. Obviously, it's cold out here."
Divers and a tow truck were able to remove the vehicle.
