Four people are recovering after a fire at a commercial building that also houses apartments.
The fire broke out in the building that houses Clancy's Banquet Hall just after 9 p.m. Friday in the 26 hundred block of Brill Road near Southeastern and Madison Avenues.
Firefighters say flames were coming through the roof of the building when crews arrived. The building also contains several apartments on the third floor. IFD Public Information Officer Bonnie Hensley says two women were forced to jump from the building to escape the heavy smoke.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control. Damage is estimated at approximately $75,000.
A total of four people, three females and a male, were taken to local hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
