The Richmond Hill neighborhood is coming together again, this time to give thanks to the first responders who became a regular fixture in the neighborhood after several housese were destroyed in an explosion.
This Sunday, the Richmond Hill Neighborhood Association is hosting a “First Responders Dinner” at the Southport Presbyterian Church. Richmond Hill residents and first responders will share a meal at the church. The residents have invited the mayor, the Homeland Security Chief, Gary Coons, and Troy Riggs, the city's Public Safety Director.
Riggs says so many lives were turned upside down the night of the explosion, but he says he has never seen a community come together the way the Richmond Hill subdivision has. The dinner will be followed by a short presentation.
Over 200 residents and 100 first responders are expected to attend.
