State health officials now say the Indiana flu outbreak has taken the lives of 27 people.
24 were over the age of 65. Nationwide, the outbreak has reached epidemic proportion according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Flu vaccination is recommended for anyone six months of age or older. Those most at risk are young children, the elderly, pregnant women and anyone with a chronic illness or compromised immune system.
