Two veterans of Governor Mitch Daniels' administration are the latest additions to Governor Mike Pence's Cabinet.

Pence has named Debra Minott as secretary of the Family and Social Services Administration, Indiana's largest state agency. The FSSA's jurisdiction includes food stamps, welfare and Medicaid.

Minott served as Daniels' personnel director for two years before becoming a vice president and associate general counsel at the Batesville medical-device manufacturer Hill-Rom. She's also navigated health-care laws and regulations as an executive at Eli Lilly and at Guidant.

Pence says Minott takes over an agency that's recovered from missteps with the outsourcing of welfare eligibility determinations to IBM. He says the agency's mission of serving the neediest Hoosiers makes it critically important to get the job right.

Pence has promoted Gina Sheets to head the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. The Frankfort native has been ISDA's director of economic development under Daniels.

The appointments move Pence closer to completing his Cabinet. The governor has said he'll announce a director of the Department of Child Services sometime in the next two weeks.
