A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit over Indiana's right-to-work law.

U.S. District Court Judge Philip Simon handed the judgment down Thursday dismissing the lawsuit brought forth by the AFL-CIO International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, among other plaintiffs.  The union claimed Indiana's right-to-work law, which was enacted last year, was unconstitutional.  

Simon granted the defendants' motion to dismiss the suit, saying "claims against state officials under state law can’t be brought in federal court because such claims would violate 'the principles of federalism that underlie the 11th Amendment.'" Simon said the plaintiffs could refile the suit in state court

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller, who was one of the defendants in the lawsuit, says the decision supports the legal authority and policy decisions of the legislature and he will continue to defend the law from any legal challenges.
