A school bus has been involved in a crash with a truck on Indianapolis' northeast side, police said.
The crash happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of 56th Street and Allisonville Road.
Parents who showed up at the scene said the bus was carrying students from the Indiana Science and Math Academy at Keystone Avenue and 72nd Street.
Six students were taken to IU Methodist Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children.
"It doesn’t appear that any of the injuries are serious, but we can't determine everything here on the scene so we sent them to hospitals to get checked out," said Indianapolis Fire Department Capt. Rita Burris.
IFD officials said the driver of the truck suffered minor "bumps and bruises."
The front end of the truck was badly damaged, and the bus appeared to have damage to its back end.
Burris said the bus was southbound on Allisonville Road and was struck by the northbound truck.
Parents were notified about the crash by the school, Burris said.
