Hamilton County Sheriff's Department K-9 officials say a student fundraiser will give their unit a boost.
Listen:
A student from Noblesville Options High School spearheaded an effort that raised $300.00 for the unit. Interim Principal Michelle Walden presented the check to deputies in the student's absence Wednesday. Walden says the money was raised as part of a community service project they require of students.
She adds that it gives her satisfaction giving students the tools they need to contribute to society. Sgt. Walden Dustin Dixon says it may not seem like a lot, but the money can either pay for bloodhound training or buy dog food. Dixon says they're happy for any community donations they get given the tight economy and uncertain government funding.
