Deal Reached for IPS Superintendent's Retirement

Dr. Eugene White to receive over $600,000 over the next five years.

1/24/2013

The Indianapolis Public Schools Board of Commissioners and Superintendent Dr. Eugene White have agreed on a separation package for White's retirement.

Listen:

White, who announced earlier this month he is retiring, will receive over $619,000 through 2018.  That amount does not include unused sick or vacation time which could increase the total.  The agreement was announced during a special board meeting Thursday night.

In a statement, White said he appreciated the board working quickly to come to an agreement.  White will stay in office until April 5.  Board President Diane Arnold says the process of naming an interim superintendent and ultimately a permanent replacement has already begun.
