New Proposals Could Make Certain Over-the-Counter Medications Prescription Only
As meth busts continue to make headlines in Indiana, politicians are losing their patience, worried about the impact meth has on the community.
There are a few different proposals in the Indiana legislature that would adopt prescirption only policies for any drug containing psuedoephedrine, but some groups are worried about convenience for people who are suffering and looking for a quick cure. Liana Burns is with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and she says people who have allergies, asthma, or people who aren't affected by either and are suffering from a cold, don't need the inconvenience of an extra visit to the doctor.
Currently two states have adopted prescription only psuedoephedrine products, Mississippi, and Oregon, and Burns says she's heard a lot of stories relating to the general inconvenience of the tough restricions. Burns says 60 million Americans suffer from the flu every year, and sometimes a product that contains pseudoephedrine is the only answer to congestion issues.
