The severe weather early this morning dropped a lot of rain, but for many IPL customers, wind seemed to cause the biggest problems, especially in the northern parts of Indianapolis.
About 1,700 customers lost power around the city, but more than 1,000 of those customers are near the Castleton area.
Winds gusted to 70 miles per hour, knocking down heavy tree limbs, and a handfull of power lines.
Shelby, Decatur, and a few other counties saw heavier damage, and were under tornado warnings, though no confirmed touchdowns have been recorded by the National Weather Service at this point.
