The Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend died Sunday.

John Michael D’Arcy, 80, was at his Fort Wayne home at the time of his death.  He passed on the 56th anniversary of his first Mass as an ordained priest.

D'Arcy retired in January 2010 as leader of the diocese after nearly 25 years in that post.  He had been diagnosed with cancer just after Christmas.

Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades along with the diocese, asks for and offers prayers for Bishop D’Arcy, his family, loved ones and friends as together we grieve the loss of our beloved  Bishop D’Arcy.
