Police arrested a Marion man in connection with the death of his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter. Marion police say the toddler's mother called police after she found the girl in bed, but she wouldn't wake up. Officers pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Investigators found what appeared to be scalding burns on the girl's face and front and back of her torso. They say the girl's mother had left her and two siblings with her boyfriend, Donald W. Riddle, 27, who had been living with them.

Police arrested Riddle Thursday morning. He faces a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
