Some caring Hoosiers are aiding the USO in the 3rd Annual Operation Hydration.
Volunteers and retirees are collecting thousands of bottles of water and monetary donations today outside of the AT&T building in downtown Indianapolis. Officials says the USO operates almost completely on donations. AT&T Indiana President George Fleetwood says the effort continues to grow each year.
Indiana National Guard Brig. Gen. Doug Copes says water remains a crucial item for troops overseas. Copes says the military is able to buy food for troops, but federal law prevents them from buying bottled water at government expense. USO Indiana Executive Director Doug Warnecke says they expect to receive hundreds of cases of water.
