Two Dead in I-65 Crash near Lafayette

Two truck drivers are dead following a fiery crash Monday morning along I-65 near Lafayette.
The accident involved three semi trucks. State police say one semi had broken down on the side of the interstate and another had parked in front of the first semi to help the driver. The victims, 44-year-old Marek Dziudek of Downers Grove, Illinois and 31-year-old Tadeusz Wojtaszek of Romeoville, Illinois, were working to unhitch the disabled tractor trailer when a third semi slammed into them.
One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was pronounced dead later at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. The driver of the third semi, 42-year-old Plata Albertico of Berwyn, Illinois, was not injured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
