An Indiana State Trooper is recovering after being involved in a motorcycle crash Sunday on Interstate 70 in Morgan County.

State Police say First Sergeant Jon Watson was traveling on eastbound 70 just west of State Road 39 near Monrovia when, for unknown reasons, a black Chevrolet Suburban switched from the right lane to the left lane without signaling.  The Suburban struck Watson, causing him to lose control of the motorcycle.

Watson suffered multiple leg fractures and severe abrasions.  He was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver of the Suburban received a citation due to the crash.  Investigators do not believe the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

The incident happened about one mile from the start of a construction zone.  Signs in the area indicated the left lane was going to close because of the construction.
