Two Arrested in Human Trafficking Operation

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police detectives arrested two people Thursday who were allegedly involved in a human trafficking operation.

Police say 24-year-old Jerry Mitchell was the alleged leader of the operation which involved teenage victims and at least one 12-year-old child with special needs.  26-year-old Joniece Peet was also arrested for her alleged involvement.

Mitchell faces multiple preliminary counts of child molestation, human trafficking and promoting prostitution.  Peet faces a charge of promoting prostitution as well.

Formal charges are pending until the probably cause affadavit has been completed by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office.  The investigation is still ongoing and police say more arrests are possible.
