IBEW Anticipates Full Employment In 2014
Despite the latest jobless numbers, the union that represents thousands of electrical workers in Central Indiana is expecting near full employment in 2014.
David Ray is Assistant Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 481. Ray says some three-thousand electricians in the 16 county-area have seen an upturn in construction in the past couple of years. Ray says employment among local electricians is roughly 85 percent.
He says they expect pending industrial and residential construction projects to push employment to close to 100 percent by late fall 2014. Ray says he believes there's money out there, but people and firms are being fiscally conservative.
