Excitement over the 250 million dollar Powerball Jackpot is boosting sales of Hoosier Lotto tickets as well.
Hoosier Lotto's jackpot has been growing quietly since the middle of May, and it's now up to 7.5 million dollars. Jack Ross, Director of the Hoosier Lottery, says Powerball fever actually helps Hoosier Lotto sales.
"You hear people come up and they'll say, 'Give me five dollars worth of Powerball and give me five dollars worth of Hoosier,' they refer to it as 'Hoosier,'" says Ross.
Powerball brought in about 130 million dollars in revenue to the state last year, and Hoosier Lotto brought in about 60 million. Lotto sales have been flat the last couple of years, but Ross says a big Powerball jackpot could change that this year.
