FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6th
8am|Courthouse Square in Greenfield
HUGE! The Riley Festival goes through Sunday and is one of Indiana’s largest street fairs, covering 12 city blocks. The Parade is Saturday morning at 11am. Parking is a challenge, so it’s easiest to park at the 4-H Fairgrounds and catch a shuttle. This year’s festival includes Helicopter Rides, fantastic food, and live entertainment all weekend long.
This is a new attraction for Conner Prairie and everyone is lovin’ it! You probably saw it if you went to any of the summer’s Symphony on the Prairie shows. It’s right behind the stage…A 7-acre corn maze! There’s a path specifically for younger kids, and then another path for teens and adults. You do have to buy the general admission ticket to get to the corn maze, which will cost you an additional $5 per person. Headless Horseman starts Oct. 12th!
Noon|The Lakes at Grassy Branch in Westfield
This is the last weekend to see these amazing 5 homes in the Lakes at Grassy Branch in Westfield! Noon to 8pm through Sunday. Parking is NOT available at Grassy Branch so park for free at Grand Park in Lot E, and a Home-A-Rama Shuttle will take you to the neighborhood. Tickets are $15 online, or $18 at the show.
IFD Chief Ernest Malone invites you and your family to attend one of the 7 selected IFD Stations, and meet the Firefighters who serve that area. Activities include, CPR Demonstrations, Free Vitals Checks, Station Tours, Apparatus Displays and more! Check the website for locations.
4pm|Fountain Square Cultural District
More than 60 performing artists and musician Friday and Saturday. Fans and musicians love this festival because of the intimate setting. The Fountain Square Music Festival 2017 promises to bring “groundbreaking modern music with breathtaking visuals via their first ever outdoor mainstage: THE NUCLEUS.” Check out the website for a complete schedule and ticket prices.
SATURDAY, OCT. 7th
8am|Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Big fundraiser benefiting the American Diabetes Association. This is the ONLY cycling event that takes place at one of the most famous landmarks in the world! You can take laps around the oval or on the road course. All ages and abilities are invited to participate in the 50K, 75K, 100M or the family ride. $10 registration fee; $200 fundraising minimum.
8:30am|Ft. Harrison State Park
A beautiful venue and a nationally recognized running event because of the course. There are 3 to choose from, the half marathon, the 5K and a kids one mile fun run. Afterwards, stay for the cookout with hamburgers, veggie burgers, brats and all the sides.
10am|Indiana State Fairgrounds
Registration starts at 9am with the 5K race around the fairgrounds beginning at 10am. Benefits Special Olympics Indiana and the Community Health Network Foundation. Meet players and enjoy snacks and beer after the race. $30-$40 includes ticket to Indy Fuel’s opening night October 21st.
10am|Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center
Saturday and Sunday, step back in time with your entire family, and experience the golden age of Queen Elizabeth. Costumed characters, jousting, juggling, acrobats, sword play and more! More than 70 Artisans and plenty of food and drink! 10am to 6pm both days.
10am|Indianapolis Children’s Museum
For so many Hoosiers, this is the first haunted house we remember visiting! Goes through Halloween, with plenty of friendly “lights on” hours for the little ones who scare easily. Friendly Witches feasts are available for breakfast and lunch and the Black Hat Dash is still looking for participants! Check the website for ticket info and details on all of their October events.
12:30pm|Nickle Plate District Amphitheatre in Fishers
The Woof It & Hoof It Charity Dog Walk raises money for the Hamilton County Humane Society’s Survivor Program, which provides emergency medical care for thousands of animals. From Animals hit by cars, to those who are victims of neglect or abuse. Bring your best friend and walk with us on Saturday to make a difference!
6pm|Crispus Attucks High School
This is not your average basketball game! Indianapolis Fire Department v. IMPD in a charity game to benefit the Julian Center. The ultimate game among Indy’s biggest heroes and they take it very seriously! $5 admission.
6pm|Delaware Township Community Center in Fishers
Indy Hair Ball 2017…An Elvis Rock n’ Roll! Spay & Neuter Services of Indiana was formed over 40 years ago and contributed significantly in the reduction in shelter euthanasia across the state. Support SNSI by attending this year’s “Hair Ball” with music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s…dinner, drinks and an Elvis Impersonator! It’s ALWAYS a great event!
SUNDAY, OCT. 8th
Join Hammer & Nigel broadcasting live on Georgia Street before you head over to Lucas Oil Stadium. Live entertainment, $3 Bud Lights, food and prizes! Ends at 1pm.
11am|Indiana State Fairgrounds Ag-Hort Building
The show will feature over 100 of the area’s best wedding professionals! Fashion Shows, entertainment and sample some possible menu items for your wedding from some of Indianapolis most creative catering companies. VIP Hour is from 11am to noon ($25), General Admission from noon to 4pm ($10). Thousands of dollars in door prizes!
