Seven-Year-Old Boy Leads La Porte Police Officers On Car Chase

Investigators say the boy had taken the car from his mom’s boyfriend around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

LAPORTE, Ind. -- You hear about police chases all the time, but officers in Northwestern Indiana say the person behind the wheel of the car they were following was a seven-year-old boy.

According to The La Porte Herald Argus, an officer saw a car swerving on the road and going only about 15 miles an hour around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.  Police tried to stop the car, but it spun out and crashed into a fence.

Investigators say the boy had taken the car from his mom’s boyfriend.  The boy is okay and was released to his mother.

La Porte Police have not said whether the boy will be facing any charges.
