CAPITOL AVE. BRIDGE REOPENED

Great news, Indy commuters! The Capitol Ave. bridge finally reopened Monday afternoon following several months of rehabilitation work.

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) sent an email Sunday morning that announced plans to reopen the bridge – on Capitol Ave. over Fall Creek, between W 24th St and W. Fall Creek Pkwy. N Dr. – following a ceremony Monday afternoon at 1:30pm featuring Mayor Joe Hogsett and other city officials.

DPW began fixing the bridge in April, and according to the press release, the finished bridge will be safer and more accessible to traffic in the winter.

This is especially important to Indy drivers who use the I-65/29th street off-ramp as part of their commute. The bridges closing has forced motorists to use Meridian St. or other routes that are less desirable than the southbound one-way that’s Capitol Ave.
