Lebanon City Councilman Found Dead In Apparent Suicide
LEBANON, Ind. -- A Lebanon City Councilman was found dead of an apparent suicide Thursday morning.
Boone County Sheriff's Deputy Ken Conley says Councilman Jeremy Lamar was found dead at around 11:00 a.m. in a cemetery outside Lebanon.
"[He was found at] Brown's Wonder Cemetery, which is located just outside of Lebanon," Conley said. "The incident summary states 'death investigation regarding self inflicted gun shot wound to the head."
Lamar, a 16-year Council veteran, had already decided not to run for re-election, according to Mayor Matt Gentry.
"I was shocked and saddened to hear of the unexpected death of Jeremy Lamar," Mayor Gentry said in a statement. "I extend my deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the Lamar family and friends."
Lamar leaves behind an elementary-school aged son and a teenage daughter. Lamar had been married and divorced twice.
The Boone County Sheriff will lead the investigation into Lamar's death.
