Henryville Mom Says She Was High During Crash That Killed Her Two Children

Ericka Fouch drove her SUV in the path of a freight train last June, killing her son and daughter.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. -- A Henryville mom has admitted to being high on meth and marijuana when she drove her car into the path of a freight train, killing her two children.

Ericka Fouch will serve 15 years of an 18-year suspended sentence for being high when she ignored the warning lights and drove her SUV in front of a train at State Road 160 and Railroad Street last June.

4-year-old Wyatt Fouch and 5-year-old Adalynn Fouch died in the crash.

A post-accident blood test showed marijuana and meth in Fouch's system, according to police.

Fouch pled guilty to two counts of causing death while operating a motor vehicle while under the influence in February in exchange for having two additional charges dismissed.

In the courtroom Thursday, Fouch cried as she told the judge she "misses her children dearly" and wanted to "take responsibility for what happened".

According to WAVE-TV, Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull said the case is difficult because "Fouch is grieving the loss of her children".

"But," Mull said, "this jail sentence will bring justice for Adalynn and Wyatt and the lives they won’t have because Fouch chose to do drugs and get behind the wheel last summer."
