Saturday 6 - 8am
email | audio on-demand
You never know who will show up on Weekend Indiana, every Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 a.m. It might be a politician or a musician, a World War II veteran or a pro wrestler. Ray focuses on the news and what is happening around Indy and Central Indiana.
Ray Steele has been a reporter for WIBC News and WIBC's sister entity, Network Indiana since December 2011. Proud to be the only Southerner on the WIBC staff - he disputes the Southern credentials of Chicks On The Right member Mock (or Daisy, he can't tell them apart) - Ray was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and raised just south of there in Trenton, Georgia, Ray attended Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
Ray spent the five years before coming to Indy in Savannah, Georgia. He earned several Associated Press Awards for news coverage and sports play-by-play at some of the top news radio stations in the South; among them are WREC in Memphis, WERC in Birmingham, Alabama and WPTF in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Ray enjoys time with his wife and two daughters, the music of Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, 1920s - 50's jazz and 1980's hair metal bands. He doesn't believe the world would rotate properly without baseball, pro wrestling, Doctor Who and Cosmos.
