The Art of Miniature Roses

Miniature roses are enchanting in a smaller-sized garden where they intermingle with the other perennials and enhance the scent and design of your garden. Miniature roses are extremely versatile and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and durability levels. They are members of the rose family and are dwarf in every way from their petals to their leaves. They can grow as small as three inches high and as tall as two feet, with two to three-inch blooms.]

And the Planting Begins
1. Dig and adequate size hole where you want your miniature roses to go. Add a quarter cup of bone meal to the soil at the bottom of the hole to help with its growth. Combine half of the soil you took out from the hole and mix it with compost, then refill the hole most of the way.

2. Remove the rose from its pot and gently tease the roots apart. Spread the roots down in the hole and finish filling the hole with your remaining soil mixture. It is important for the plant to have soil around the stems at the same level as the pot's soil.

3. Water the plant thoroughly to get rid of any air pockets that may still be lingering.

4. In either the morning or evening, they will need a half-day of sun, but kept adequately moistened.

5. In order to maintain the life of a miniature rose, they should be pruned back two-thirds in early spring. If all is maintained, they will begin to bloom in late May to June.
